CONTAINERS AND COLLECTION

Can I put my address on Trash Away containers?

We request the use of a material which is durable, but the can be removed (such as mailbox letters or numbers). Paint or other permanent markings are should not be used.

My container needs replaced or repaired.

If your container is missing, check with your neighbors, many times a neighbor will mistakenly grab your container. If you are unable to locate your container or need a replacement, contact us and we will schedule a delivery within 7-10 business days.

Can I use my recycling container for trash?

Recycling containers should never be used for trash. If you have trash which does not fit inside your trash container, you may set out an additional container or place extra bags next to your trash container — some homeowners associations may restrict container or bag types, check with yours if you are unsure.

When should I put my trash/recycling out?

We recommended placing your items out the night before your collection day to ensure collection — some homeowners associations may restrict the times trash and or recycling can be out, check with yours if you are unsure.

What is acceptable to place out for collection?

Everyday household waste is acceptable for collection. Always place recyclable materials in your recycling container.

What is unacceptable to place out for collection?

The following materials require special handling and or disposal and special arrangements must be made;

Hazardous Waste: acids, ammunition, antifreeze, asbestos, car batteries, caustics, chemicals, dead animals, explosives, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, herbicides/pesticides, motor oil, wet paint, poisons, propane/helium tanks.

Electronic Waste should be taken to a certified e-Waste recycler. For assistance locating one, visit our recycling information page.

Construction Debris: concrete, brick, block, palettes, tile, drywall, etc.

Large Landscaping Projects: mulch, dirt, rock, stumps, and sod.

Medical Waste: Used needles and syringes may be sealed in a thick, impenetrable plastic bottle (such as a laundry detergent bottle). The sealed bottle can then be discarded in your regular household trash — the container is no longer recyclable. Unused prescription medications should not be placed in your trash or recycling container and should never be flushed down the toilet. Contact your local pharmacy or visit the DEA Office of Diversion Control for drug take-back programs.

How do I dispose of Yard Waste?

Yard waste will be collected separately from other items from March  through December for all single family homes and some townhomes. Yard waste includes leaves, grass and brush from regular household lawn and garden care. Leaves and grass must be placed curbside separately in paper bags (weighing no more than 50 pounds per bag) or reusable containers (i.e., no plastic bags).  Brush (shrubs, pruning, twigs, and plants) must be placed in a separate container or in bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds each.  Bundled brush, such as tree limbs, must be cut to a length of less than 4 feet long and bundled with rope or twine.  We will collect up to 10 bags and/or bundles of yard waste per home per pick up. Yard waste excludes tree stumps, poisonous plants, dirt, rocks, stones, concrete, sand, insect nests or hives, or wood or lumber from decks, fences, etc.  In addition, limbs that are larger than 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length will not be collected.
